Dress Code for Concert and Opera

You will see most Europeans come to the Bregenz Festival in a “festive attitude” even though there is no strict dress code.

For the CONCERT on Monday, therefore, please bring slightly more elegant clothing (“casual chic” or “tenue de ville”). The attire should be decent, but there is no need to bring a gown or tuxedo.

For the OPERA on Thursday, please plan to wear casual clothes and bring a warm jacket. It could get cold. Since the opera starts at 9.00pm and is outdoors, the possibility of rain cannot be excluded. (Plastic rain capes are available for 1€ in front of the lake stage entrances. Umbrellas are not allowed!)

Also, the chairs are not particularly comfortable—you may want to bring a pad to sit on.

Weather and what to wear

In General—

August used to be the hottest month in central Europe. Recent years, however, have shifted weather patterns so that weather at Lake Constance in August can vary daily—from rainy and cool (15-20°C) to sunny, bright skies and hot temperatures (up to 35°C).

Please, therefore, bring summer clothes and shoes but also be equipped with a sweater/cardigan or jacket and good shoes in case of colder days or rain.

Most definitely, bring your bathing suit. There is a huge outdoor pool open all day—the lake—and Hotel Bad Schachen has private access to the lake as well as its own spacious pool area. You may also want to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Feel free to bring athletic wear or workout clothes for morning runs along the lake or workouts in the hotel gym.

For the all-day outing on Wednesday and other walks, we suggest that you wear comfortable shoes (for example, sneakers).
